RULES

q      Hafidhs (whoever memorize the whole Qur’an) may not compete.

q      Previous competition winners (first three for most categories) must compete in a higher category.

q      Maximum number of contestants per category to qualify for the final is 5 for Cat. # 1-4 and 10 for the other Categories (males & females contestants combined).

q      Names of contestants who will qualify to the finals will be posted on the website.

q      Male (all categories) and Female (Cat #6&7) contestants will compete in the main Salaat hall (Downstairs).

q      Female contestants will compete separately (except Cat #6&7).

q      Contestants may not participate in a category other than the one they registered for.

q      Contestants are not allowed to compete in more than one category.

q      Contestants are allowed to compete in a category level above their age group (but not vice-versa).

q      Any category not having at least 5 contestants may be cancelled.

q      Categories may be changed or cancelled later on.

q      Contestants will be tested (orally) for Memorization (60%), Tajweed (30%) and overall performance (10%). Age will be taking into account only as a tiebreaker.

q      The Quran competition will include the following Tajweed Rules:
- The rules of the Noon Sakinah and Tanween
- The rules of Meem Sakinah
- The Noon and Meem Mushaddadah
- The Mudood (Lengthening)
- The rules of Ra
- The Qalqalah

q      Prize may be withheld from a contestant if the score is below 60%.

q      “New Muslim” category is open for people who reverted back to Islam in the last two years.

q      Registration deadline is: May 5th, 2010 @ 11:59pm (No Exceptions).
